The Municipal Art Society is now accepting nominations for the annual MASterworks Awards, honoring projects that exemplify excellence in architecture and urban design and contribute significantly to New York City’s built environment. We encourage community members, industry professionals, and anyone with a passion for New York to submit projects completed in 2013.
The winners will be selected by an esteemed jury of top professionals in the fields of architecture, design, planning and real estate, including:
Tommy Craig – Senior Managing Director, Hines Development
Judith DiMaio – Dean, School of Architecture and Design, New York Institute of Technology
Susannah Drake – Principal, DLANDSTUDIO Architecture + Landscape Architure pllc
Kitty Hawks – Kitty Hawks Interior Design
William Menking – Editor-in-Chief, The Architect’s Newspaper
Award categories are assigned at the discretion of the jury. Previous categories include:
Best New Building for outstanding new design
Best Restoration for the restoration of a historically significant building
Neighborhood Catalyst for a project that has been an engine for change in its neighborhood
Best New Urban Amenity for an addition to the built environment that contributes to a more livable city
Best Urban Landscape for a new open space that contributes to New York’s livability and resilience
